On the following pages, you will find pictures and general descriptions of the raptors we commonly see at the tower. Some of the information provided in this section was taken from The Audubon Society Encyclopedia of North American Birds by John K. Terres; A Photographic Guide to North American Raptors by Brian K. Wheeler and William S. Clark; and the Stokes Field Guide to Birds by Donald and Lillian Stokes.
The calls on this site are from the Stokes Field Guide to Bird Songs (Eastern) and are copyrighted by Lang Elliott/NatureSound Studio. The calls have been shortened to facilitate faster loading. The original recordings are more involved, and the three cd set from which they were taken (which contains over 300 bird songs) is an excellent resource for any birder.
