Hear the bald eagle's call

AKA: American eagle, fishing eagle, Washington eagle

SIZE: 34 to 43 inches

WINGSPAN: 6 to 7.5 feet

FLIGHT SPEED: 36 to 44 MPH

FEEDING HABITS: Eats mostly fish. Will hunt fish or take them from ospreys. Also will eat waterfoul, muskrats, squirrels, rabbits, and road killed animals.

IDENTIFICATION: Mature birds are brownish-black with white head and tail. The bill and legs are bright yellow. Immature bird is more brown than black with white patches under wings and on body. Will not show mature plumage until 4 or 5 years old. Shows flat profile when soaring, unlike "V" shape of turkey vulture.
