Virginia Carol Davis

Hinton-Virginia Carol Salmons Davis died Monday, March 21st at her home. .Born September 10, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Roy E. and Clarice Ferguson Salmons. Mrs. Davis was a lifelong resident of Summers County. She was a graduate of Hinton High School and received her bachelor's degree from Concord College and her master's degree from Salem-Teikyo University. She had taught for twenty-four years in Summers County, having served at Hinton High School, Talcott Junior High School, and Summers Middle School. Her last teaching assignment was at Summers County High School.

She was a member of the National Council of Teachers of English, the West Virginia Humanities Council, and the West Virginia Language Arts Council. She was honored by her students by being selected for Who's Who Among America's Teachers and as a Hulme-Cundiff teacher at Summers Middle School. Mrs. Davis always felt it was an honor and a privilege to have worked with so many wonderful students and colleagues over the years. She was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include her beloved husband Rodney; her two cherished children, her daughter Courtney and her son Ryan; her brother Roy E. Salmons, Jr. of Hinton; her sisters Marsha Bennett and her husband Blaine of Hinton and Kim Rogers and her husband Doug of Charlotte, NC; her in-laws, Jerry and Karen Davis of Lewisburg; Nancy Davis of Covington, GA; Ernie and Becky Wheeler of Forest Hill; several nieces and nephews. At her request, the body was cremated. Also at her request, there will be no formal service. The family is being served by Pivont Funeral Home.
